This Platinum Collection box set consists of three full-length records, all of which were landmark moments of Phil Collins' solo career during the '80s. Some of the most well-known songs of his career are featured here: 1981's "In the Air Tonight" from Face Value, the MTV hits "Sussudio" and "Take Me Home" from 1985's soft rock powerhouse No Jacket Required, and the soft rock brilliance of 1989's But Seriously. All three releases have their obvious strengths but also bear the weakness of filler, making this essential to only die-hard fans looking to fill gaps in their collections. Casual fans would be better served seeking out 1998's Hits collection, a more thorough survey of Collins' solo endeavors.
